Call for information for 4th edition of What Works for Pupils with Literacy Difficulties?

I have been commissioned by the Dyslexia-SpLD Trust to produce a fourth edition of my report on What Works? (The previous editions, under slightly different titles, appeared in 1998 (with colleagues from NFER as co-authors), 2002 and 2007.)

The new edition will, as always, mainly feature schemes intended to improve the reading and/or spelling and/or writing attainment of children aged 5-14.

However, in this edition I propose to add sections on schemes designed:

-    to boost literacy at primary/secondary transfer

-    for children with dyslexia/SpLD

-    for children living in disadvantaged areas

-    for adolescents aged 14-18, including those detached from education or training, including those who have offended or may be at risk of doing so.

If you have quantitative evidence from anywhere in the UK on a scheme fitting one or more of these categories, and are willing to share that information with me, please send it to me at gregbrooksuk@yahoo.co.uk

I will acknowledge all responses to this invitation, whether or not the information is used in the new edition, both on receiving it and in the report.

Deadline: 31 January 2012.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Greg Brookes
